
Vic Macias
Senior Vice President, Global Military Operations
Major General Victor R. Macias (U.S. Air Force) serves as the senior vice president of global military operations at University of Maryland Global Campus. As a member of the president’s senior executive team, Macias is responsible for oversight of stateside and deployed university staff providing direct educational and career developmental programs to active-duty military personnel, veterans, and their dependents at more than 175 locations in the United States and in more than 20 nations across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
Macias has held numerous senior military roles, including Deputy Commanding General of U.S. Cyber Command’s elite Cyber National Mission Force at Fort Meade. His previous roles with U.S. Cyber Command included senior national guard advisor and domestic operations lead advisor. He was also commander of the 175th Cyberspace Operations Group with the Air National Guard in Baltimore, providing full spectrum offensive and defensive operational cyber forces to U.S. Cyber Command and the U.S. Air Force.
During his time in the U.S. Navy, Macias served as a combat readiness officer for the F-14 fighter wing and an instructor for new pilots at Naval Air Station Oceana. Throughout Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, he served as an F-14 Tomcat radar intercept officer for Fighter Squadron 11, managed the NATO Forward Air Controller program, led training exercises, and participated in Iraq’s Operation Southern Watch. He served as lead coordinator of the Squadron Combat Search and Rescue unit and was awarded the Air Medal for the successful completion of more than 30 missions over Iraq and Bosnia.
Most recently, Macias served as vice president for national and international partner strategy at a technology firm, where he led global efforts to strengthen cyber defense collaboration across government and allied partners.
Macias holds master’s degrees from the National War College (in national security strategy) and University of Maryland, Baltimore County (in cybersecurity). He completed executive development programs at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, George Washington University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the U.S. Naval Academy and attended the U.S. Air Force Air War College.
He enjoys spending time with family and contributes volunteer time to several non-profit efforts in the national security space.
